Reinventing the Record Player In my most recent work, Reinventing the Record Player, the viewer is drawn into an area of visual light and sound. Being surrounded by different sounds coming from different sources. The repetition of circles from the spinning of the table, to the spinning of the record players, to the encirclement of the speakers, creates a sense of form that evokes the idea of a record player’s movement. This piece also has a lot to do with the idea of communication and technology. With the advancements in technology, we as the human population have become extremely dependant on technology and the Internet. So much tech work went into creating the piece that in a way I’m exploiting technology by overdoing or “Reinventing” this classic creation, the record player.
